Using More Of Your Solar Power Excess Versus Exporting It
Solar Excess Usage Versus Export : It sure has been a challenge over the years, trying to explain to many Aussie householders, that installing the biggest solar system on their roof, is NOT necessarily the secret to making the most money, from solar power!

In A Net metered environment any home using little power in the sunny hours of the day, with little gain for exported power, simply has the solar power investment return on 'trickle feed'!

Dummies Guide To Correct Current Clamp Positioning
We have updated our clamp placement guide for electricians once again to reduce client frustration. Due to power monitoring system current clamps being installed incorrectly.

Amazingly electricians in some cases have left the site and are not too interested in going back to correct their mistake! The client in many cases believing the electrician has done the right thing (when he has not), then calls us for support. Unfortunately for the client we have to explain the obvious.

The most common incorrect positioning of consumption clamps, is when the solar power feeds back through the same clamps. Resulting in the consumption being affect by the solar power generation. Easily spotted as when the sun is shining the consumption rises and falls in a similar manner.

Visit our SUPPORT page for the correct placement of your consumption and solar power clamps.

All Solar & Consumption Energy Monitoring Solutions Updated
All web pages relating to the energy monitoring of solar power and total power consumption have been updated.

Updates reflect recent changes to the online energy monitoring dashboards and mobile applications. Changes made to importantly support changes from Gross metering to Net metering which will affect many households across NSW at the end of the year.

Where if no energy monitoring is installed in these homes, in a net metered environment they simply will not have a clue as to when they have power to use from the roof, instead of importing power. All the time running the risk of exporting the solar generated power for little financial return.

Start off by visiting our System #1 Monitoring Solutions page for all the latest information HERE.

How To Add Consumption Clamps To Solar Power Net Metering
There still seems to be some confusion with some Aussie electricians, as to the correct place for total power consumption clamps. This relates directly to when solar power is present in a net metered environment.

We are not sure why we have to explain the obvious in so much detail. Afterall we are dealing here with supposedly professional electricians.

So this time to 'hit the nail directly on the head' and to importantly stop the client from having to request a revisit by the electrician, we have updated our Solar Power Consumption Clamp Placement Guide For Net Metered Monitoring Systems once again. Now of course it resembles a Guide For Dummies with all of it's detail!

This time we hope it is read and understood by all those who would rather do it their way. Which is often unfortunately the wrong way! Please find our guide on our SUPPORT page. Any questions let us know.

Types Of Solar Power Metering In NSW
It's important to make sure you know how a three phase electricity meter is going to compute the exported electricity from your single phase inverter. Each electricity distributor does not necessarily have the same set of guidelines for a connection such as this. There are different meters that compute the exported power in different ways.

The possible variables can make a big difference to the expected ROI from your Solar Power installation.

How Many kWh Are There In A LPG Gas Bottle?
This has been a common question asked by our clients over the years, when they are wanting to compare gas to electricity.

Here are some simple facts about LPG gas versus electricity:

* 1 kg of LPG gas contains 50.4 MJ [Mega Joules] of energy
* 1 kWh of electricity = 3.6 MJ of LPG gas
* One 45 kg LPG gas bottle [45 kg x 50.4 MJ = 2268 MJ of energy
* Other bottle sizes are: 9 kg = 453. 6 MJ : 2 x 45 kg bottles = 4536 MJ

And if they do attempt to understand the bill, all to often it is just to complex or missing data!

Now is this the commonsense way to bill householders? Surely not!

Time Of Use Electricity Tariff Support
If you are looking for an electricity monitoring system that supports the Time Of Use [TOU] tariff, then we have a solution for you.

All tariff times and usage quantities for off-peak, shoulder and peak power are easily displayed and recorded.

As you may be aware, when you have a power meter with TOU, you can only access the total power data in the meter and not the power used for each time slice of the tariff.

Without this data you will only know the TOU data in three months time when your electricity bill arrives. And that is in no way very useful!

Visit our ONLINE ELECTRICITY MONITORING page for all the information.

Beware Of Electricity Scammers!
When we hear of electricity scammers our blood starts to boil! Today we had a call from a gentleman in NSW whom reports he had a call off Aussie Home Energy trying to upgrade his electricity retail offer!

We DO NOT offer electricity retail!

What we would suggest is the following:

* Is the caller id on your phone supplying a number? If not is it Australian or why is it hidden?

* Make sure you get the callers name, a return phone number and the name of the business, making the offer

* Make sure you are aware of what tariff you are on in the first place, as this helps to compare any offers

* Anyone calling you between 12.00 - 14.00 is most likely calling from overseas, especially when the caller has an accent from the Indian continent

Make sure you visit our ELECTRICITY SUPPLY & METERING PROBLEMS page where you will find the Energy Ombudsman for your State.

Please report the business to the Ombudsman, as this will help stop others being stung.

Solar PV Net Metering Explained
Our research over the last few months mainly in Sydney’s West, has shown there are lot of people with a Solar PV system, connected to the grid via NET metering, who are very confused as to what their solar system is generating!

Our research findings are telling us, this too is both from a energy angle and a financial one. And if the householder is not confused, often the idea they have of what their solar system is doing, is totally incorrect. So what we have decided to do is put the records straight. You will find information on what you should see and what you will not see on the electricity bill, detailed on our SOLAR NET METERING web page.

To be fair to the customer, should both not be highlighted on the bill? Afterall these TOU tariffs are marketed as the way to SAVE on electricity costs!

When was the last time you looked the usage analysis and did a cost analysis?
